Event Details

The Mayan Festival is a FREE event for all that will begin on Nov. 16 and end on Nov. 17

Our objectives are to:

1. Present Mayan Culture

2. Preserve Mayan Culture

3. Bring to light the underrepresentation the Mayan Community has

The Mayan Festival is unlike all other festivals.  What we have in common is the live music, dancing, and food; at the same time we will conduct a series of workshops that will educate us all in many topics.

We will have two types of workshops--Mayan Culture & Social Justice workshops.

Mayan Culture Workshops:

  • Folkloric Dance
  • Archaeology, History
  • Art, Murals, Paint
  • Gastronomy
  • Ceremonies, Culture
  • Photography

And more...

Social Workshops:

  • Taxes
  • Immigration
  • Health Resources
  • Bank Basics/Finances
  • Substance Abuse
  • Childcare

And more...

This festival is an opportunity for us to learn more about this mysterious culture; and at the same time help preserve future generations.  Join us in 2012, "The year of Oxlajuj B'aktun."
